Stopping The Spread Of Emerald Ash Borer

firewood

The Emerald Ash Borer has the ability to strike anywhere at anytime, threatening to kill most of the 8.7 billion ash trees throughout North America. Knowing what to do to save your dying tree can make your life a lot easier.

Here’s what you should do to help manage the infestation:

  1. Don’t move firewood from your property or carry it across state lines.
  2. If you find the insect, record the area where you found it and take photos of the insect, if possible.
  3. Buy firewood from local sources and burn it where you buy it.
  4. Before spring, burn your remaining firewood supply to eliminate the chance of the insect spreading to live trees.
